POCATELLO, ID—MAY 8, 2020—Trials for the second annual Crush The Curve Futurity will be contested today (May 8) at Pocatello Downs.

First post for the 8-Race card will get under way at 1 pm. (MDT). The Crush The Curve trials will be contested as races 2 thru 7 at a distance of 300 yards. The 35 participating 2-year-olds will vie for one of the 10 qualifying spots into the $44,050 final to be run back on Saturday, May 22nd.

Nearly all 35 entries will be making their career debut in the trials, however in the third trial (Race 4), leading trainer Riley Moosman will send out Better Believe Her, a daughter of multiple stakes sire Valiant Hero, who broke her maiden in her debut April 17th, a trial for the Hadley Giles Futurity.

Racing for owner J R Stables, Better Believe Her posted the 13th fastest time and qualified for the $11,954 Hadley-Giles Juvenile in her first start but did not run back in the May 1st final. The $23,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate is out of Believers Gathering by Agouti.

Trainer Mark Hanson will saddle five head in the $20,000-added Crush The Curve trials. Among them are $18,000 Heritage Place graduate Eagle Assault (One Famous Eagle), Back N Action (Ivory James) a $16,000 Heritage Place Yearling, and Feature Teller Mrl (Teller Cartel), a $50,000 Heritage Place Winter Mixed repurchase.

On Sunday, May 9th, Pocatello Downs will host two sets of trials or the Pocatello Downs Maiden Frolic. Colts and Geldings will compete in Race 2 thru 4 to vie for a spot in the $22,900 final, while fillies will face off the Pocatello Downs Maiden Frolic Oaks trials, races 5 thru 7. The fillies will run back for a $21,500 purse. Both finals are scheduled for May 22nd.
