FARMINGTON, NM—MAY 11, 2021—Girl With A Plan, a graded stakes winning 4-year-old daughter of Big Daddy Cartel owned by Pedro Zubiate, will look to get back on the winning track in Sunday’s 400-yard, $50,000 Jimmy Drake Stakes (RG3) for New Mexico-breds at SunRay Park.
Girl With A Plan is coming off of a ninth-place finish in a 350-yard, $36,000 allowance dash for New Mexico-breds at SunRay Park on April 24. However, the mare ended her 3-year-old season with a third-place finish, a head behind winner Diamond And A Half, in the 400-yard, $30,000 New Mexico Filly & Mare Championship (RG1) on December 7.
Girl With A Plan earned $152,550 from eight outs during her sophomore campaign, and her four wins included a half-length victory at odds of 25-1 in the November 9, $248,000 New Mexico Cup Derby (RG2). The mare drew post 4 and will be ridden by Christian Ramos for trainer Carlos Alvidrez.
Other contenders include Edilberto Estrada Cano’s Wisho, a graded stakes placed 3-year-old daughter of the Time Bandit (TB) stallion Next Bandit (TB) trained by Ivan Tafoya. An earner of $20,147 from four races, the filly is coming off of a second-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Ell Valentino, in the 400-yard, $57,000 New Mexico Breeders’ Stakes (RG3) for state-bred 3-year-olds on April 25.
Wisho drew post 7 and will be ridden by Alonso Rivera.
