Multiple Stakes Winner CM Boom Shakalaka Makes Season Debut in Mail Tribune Handicap

GRANTS PASS, OR—MAY 13, 2021—Chris Sutton’s CM Boom Shakalaka, a son of champion Carters Cartel trained by Nick Lowe, will make his 6-year-old season debut in Monday’s 350-yard, $15,000-added Mail Tribune Handicap at Grants Pass Downs.

CM Boom Shakalaka is coming off of a 5-year-old season during which he earned $42,860 from seven races and scored a neck victory in the 440-yard, $40,000 Bank of America Emerald Downs Championship Challenge Stakes in August. A finalist in the 2018 Southern California Derby (G2) and ’19 Vessels Maturity (G1) at Los Alamitos, the Oregon-bred gelding drew post 2 and will be ridden by Luis F. Gonzalez.
