RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JULY 20, 2021—Grade 1 winners Powerful Favorite and Perrys Double Down are among the eight aged sprinters entered in Sunday’s 400-yard, $40,000 Mr Jet Moore Stakes (G2) at Ruidoso Downs.
Powerful Favorite made his local debut with a wire-to-wire, three-quarter length victory in a 350-yard, $19,400 open-condition allowance dash on June 27. A 5-year-old son of Favorite Cartel trained by Chris O’Dell for owner Rosenthal Ranch LLC, the gelding has won his last three races, including the 400-yard, $158,000 Brad McKinzie Los Alamitos Winter Championship (G1) on February 14.
Powerful Favorite drew post 2 and will be ridden by Eduardo Nicasio.
Perrys Double Down is a 4-year-old Mr Jess Perry gelding trained by John Stinebaugh for owner Stinebaugh Equine Enterprises LLC. The winner of last year’s 440-yard, $393,000 Texas Classic Derby (G1) at Lone Star Park, Perrys Double Down is coming off of a fifth-place finish, two lengths behind winner Danjer, in the 440-yard, $320,000 Debbie Schauf Remington Park Championship (G1) on May 29.
Perrys Double Down drew post 8 and will be ridden by Francisco Calderon.
