Jess Un Sies Mas Prevails in $15,000 Dolls Prodigy Stakes at Arapahoe

Jess Un Sies Mas Prevails in $15,000 Dolls Prodigy Stakes at Arapahoe

AURORA, CO—JUNE 30, 2020—Jess Un Sies Mas gained ground to narrowly take the $15,000 Dolls Prodigy Stakes at Arapahoe on Tuesday afternoon.

Alejandro Luna guided Jess Un Sies Mas ($6.00) to victory in the 350-yard race in :17.799 and earned a 90 speed index.

The 4-year-old gelding is a Colorado homebred for Hugo Barron-Sierra and is trained by Jose Barron.

The stakes win was the first race of 2020 for Jess Un Sies Mas. The multiple stakes winner won the Rocky Mountain Derby and Lucille Rowe Derby and qualified for the Mile High Derby, all at Arapahoe last summer. He has seven wins in 13 career starts and has amassed $79,090 in earnings to date.

Jess Un Sies Mas is by Apollitical Jess and is out of the Tres Seis mare Seis Star Glitter. Seis Star Glitter was multiple stakes placed, including the runner-up in the 2010 Mile High Derby at Arapahoe.

Finishing a head behind in second place was Kooler Wagon, with Jose Meza aboard. Uriel Delgado trains the Desirio filly for owner Alma Olivas. Kooler Wagon was bred in Colorado by Thomas Bradbury and Vaughn Cook, out of Beaus Wagon, Pyc Paint Your Wagon.

Tuesday’s race was the first stakes appearance for Kooler Wagon; in her five career starts, she broke her maiden at Arapahoe and won an allowance race at Prairie Meadows.

El Oh El and Uriel Cervantes completed the trifecta for trainer Bob Johnson. George Seward owns and bred the Apollitical Jess filly in Colorado, out of the Ivory James mare Cute Ivory Girl.

El Oh El spent her 2-year-old season at Los Alamitos before travelling to Arapahoe, Remington and Prairie Meadows. She is multiple stakes placed, including a second-place finish in the Lucille Rowe Derby at Arapahoe last July. Her previous start this year was in the American Flyer Stakes, also at Arapahoe.

Completing the field were Dg Favorite, Perkin Desire, Jessinourbodgit, Turbo Boost and Toshi Yoshi. Toshi Yoshi originally finished sixth but was disqualified and placed eighth.
