AURORA, CO—JULY 1, 2020—Entrepenewer, under jockey Jose Meza, finished best Wednesday afternoon while breaking his maiden in a neck win over Kb Apollitical Trump in the $73,500 Rocky Mountain Futurity at Arapahoe Park.
Selling for $13,000 as a short-yearling at the 2019 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale, Entrepenewer gave owner Edwin Castillo a $29,800 return on investment by completing the 330 yards in :17.275 seconds, equaling an 87 speed index into an 18 mph headwind.
Conditioned by trainer Rolando Castillo, the son of multiple stakes sire Dominyun, entered the final off a second-place effort in the fastest Rocky Mountain Futurity trial June 14l, his career debut, while posting the third fastest qualifying time.
Runner-up Kb Apollitical Trump earned $14,900 for his second-place effort. The son of leading second-crop sire Apollitical Blood bounced off a fifth-place effort in the trials when he posted the seventh fastest qualifying time for owner Alma Olivas.
Trainer Uriel Delgado saddled the $10,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate out of Holland Dynasty by FDD Dynasty. Ramiro Garcia was riding the K & K Farms Louisiana-bred 2-year-old.
Apollitical Splash, another son of Apollitical Blood, finished a nose back in the blanket-finish to earn $8,940 for third. Trainer Jose Marquez conditions the Colorado homebred for owner-breeder Victoriano F. Alvarez. Daniel Valles was aboard the bay colt out of La Burrita Splash by Splash Bac.
Completing the Rocky Mountain Futurity field were Relentless Soul, First Prize Hazel, Capos Cowgirl, Beautiful Capi, Im Jess Good, Bold Eagle and Ramacin Ranger.
