Ima Runnin First Wins Alberta Stallion Stakes Maturity at Century Mile

EDMONTON, AB—JULY 3, 2020—The Friday night card at Century Mile began with the $9,300 Alberta Stallion Stakes Maturity (not black-type); Ima Running First made quick work of the field and won by a half-length as the post-time favorite.

The final time for the 300-yard event was 16.327; the winner earned a 61 speed index.

Ima Runnin First ($5.70) was guided to victory by Jose Rocha. He is owned, trained and bred by Wesley Oulton.

Among Ima Runnin First’s multiple stakes wins is the Alberta Stallion Derby in 2016 at Northlands Park. He has three wins in 20 career starts and has finished second or third in 11 races. His career earnings now total $38,307.

Ima Runnin First is by First Timber and is out of Ima Jess a Streaker, by Streakin La Jolla.

First Timber was well represented; he is also the sire of the second-place finisher, Streaken Timber. Streaken Timber was ridden by Carl Hebert for trainer Brent Lazco. Shirley Lazco owns and bred the 8-year-old gelding out of the Streakin Six mare Streaken Jordash.

Streaken Timber has competed in many stakes and won the Alberta Bred Derby at Northlands in 2015. With four wins in 19 starts, he has career earnings of $31,542.

Big Hoss Rollin and Alan Rizo won the photo for third place. The 8-year-old gelding is owned and trained by Deanne Davies.

Big Hoss Rollin was bred by Sazwan Speed Horses, by Zillas Spin Doctor and out of Sables Val, by Dashing Val.

For the first time in his career, Big Hoss Rollin spent his winter outside of Canada and campaigned at Turf Paradise. He has seven wins in 57 career starts, with multiple stakes placings. He won the Alberta Stallion Derby in 2015 at Northlands and was second in the Alberta Bred Futurity at Lethbridge in 2014.

Completing the field were Canadian Timber, Atomic Blondie and Knotty Knita.
