PLEASANTON, CA—JULY 4, 2020—In his first start this year, Buccaneer Baby pushed clear of stablemate Walk It Man to win the $8,000 Jack Robinson Handicap (not black type) on Saturday at Pleasanton Racecourse.

Under jockey Leonel Camacho-Flores, Buccaneer Baby completed 350 yards in :17.976 seconds, equaling a 96 speed index. It was the second career win from only five official starts for the 5-year-old son of multiple stakes sire Buccaneer Beach.

Owned-trained and bred by Jose Aguila, Buccaneer Baby picked up $4,582 for the win to increase his bankroll to $10,382. The chestnut California-bred is out of Rosys Doll by Hawkinson.

Walk It Man, a 5-year-old stakes-placed son of leading sire Walk Thru Fire, picked up $1,666 for his second-place effort. Also trained Aguila, Walk It Man is owned by Taryn Suyematsu-Guzman. Steve D. Burns, DVM bred the bay horse in California from the Corona Cartel mare Attack The Cartel. He has banked $26,640.

Angela Maria Aquino saddled Cotton Cartel to a third-place finish for owner-breeder Asley T. Garcia. Hugo Herrera was aboard the 4-year-old daughter of Special Cartel from the High Cotton (TB). Mare Cotton Belle (TB). She earned $1,000 for the effort.

Bac On Track and Hit It Quit It Nr completed the field.
