FREDRICKSBURG, TX—JULY 5, 2020—Making his first career start, A Rebels Secret ran a trouble free race to defeat Quik Return by half-a-length in the first of six trials Sunday for the $91,400 G.C.F.A. July Firecracker Futurity at Gillespie County Fair.

His time of :17.640 seconds, a 98 speed index into a 5 mph headwind, stood the entire day as the time to beat! The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Fredricksburg on Sunday, July 19th to vie for the winner's share of the purse worth $31,990.

Trainer Angel Sanchez conditions the son of All American Futurity(G1) winner No Secrets Here for owner Horacio Amet, who purchased the sorrel gelding for $6,700 at the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City. Bred by Randy McDaniel, from the Rebel Dasher mare Rough Rebel, A Rebles Secret earned $1,800 for his trial victory today

The aforementioned Quik Return held on to the second fastest time of :17.640 seconds, also a 98 speed index. Alonso Neri saddled the son of multiple stakes sire High Rate Of Return for owner Ernesto Chavira.

Victor Manuel Urieta, Jr. rode the Oklahoma-bred gelding out of A Beautiful Fragranc, by Carters Cartel. A $6,500 2019 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale Graduate was bred by Ron and Denise Van Amburgh.

Attack At Dawn was an impressive 1-¼ length winner in the final trial to get the third fastest clocking of :17,816, a 93 speed index into a 5 mph headwind. Jose R. Espinosa trains the son of 2020 leading sire Favorite Cartel for owner Eberardo Elizondo. Jockey Noe Villatoro had the riding call.

A $13,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate, Attack At Dawn was bred in California by Steve Burns. He is out of the Corona Cartel mare Attack The Cartel.
