Dh Renaes Dynasty Takes Sweetwater Open Derby in Gate-to-Wire Win

ROCK SPRINGS, WY—SEPTEMBER 12, 2020—In the $12,000 Sweetwater Open Derby (not black-type) in Rock Springs on Saturday, Dh Renaes Dynasty broke sharply and maintained her lead to win by a neck.

The 400-yard derby was open to all 3-year-olds with preference to high money earners in 2019-2020.

Dh Renaes Dynasty ($15.40) crossed the wire in 20.175 and earned an 88 speed index. Santiago Jimenez had the call for trainer Chad Giles.

Dh Renaes Dynasty is owned and bred in Utah by Dean Hodson, by Jr Dynasty Mountain and out of Shesa Shazan, by Shazoom. This was the fourth career win for the filly in nine lifetime starts and her second consecutive win. It was also her second stakes victory; in 2019, she won the Elko Intermountain Futurity. Earlier this year, she qualified to the Adequan Weber Downs Derby Challenge.

Tf the Boss Hog and Tyson Lusk finished a neck behind the winner for trainer Jorge Garfias and owner Arturo Aaron Saenz.

Tf the Boss Hog is a Louisiana-bred son of The Louisiana Cartel, bred by Tate Farms and Ron Habetz, out of Deelish, by First Down Dash. The Sweetwater Open Derby was his second stakes appearance; he also qualified to the Wyoming Downs Renegade Sports Derby in August. His trial for that race was his first start in Wyoming after competing in Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado.

Post-time favorite Steppen Mr Perry and Uriel Domiguez finished a neck behind in third place. Jerry Allen trains, owns, and bred the Tell Him Twice gelding in Utah, out of Merry Perry, by Dashing Jess Perry.

Steppen Mr Perry qualified to the WHR Open Futurity last year at Sweetwater Downs as well as the KVN Corona Derby earlier this year at Weber. He was the fastest qualifier to the Wyoming Downs Renegade Sports Derby in August and finished third in the final.

Completing the field were Cd Tres Ace, Bp Southern Suzie, Eyesa Special Snoopi, Tainted Halo, Version Star, Wilmas Dynasty and There Goes My Girl.
