LOS ALAMITOS, CA—SEPTEMBER 13, 2020—Parsons Family Limited Partnership's Terrific Temper posted no only the fastest qualifying time to the Grade 2, $375,000 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity but also the fastest 350-yard time at Los Alamitos Race Course this season after a jaw-dropping two length win in the sixth of seven trials held on Sunday night.

Ridden by Eduardo Nicasio for trainer Chris O'Dell, Terrific Temper covered the distance in :17.305, bettering the meet's previous fastest time at 350 yards of :17.311 set by Chance To Excel in the trials to the Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity on June 7.

Terrific Temper's smashing performance also gave the Tempting Dash filly her first victory in five career starts. She had previously finished second to Chance To Excel in both their lightning fast Ed Burke Million trial as well as in the $1,115,000 Ed Burke Million final held on June 21.

On Sunday night, it was Terrific Temper's moment to look like a million bucks, as she flew from post eight to take an early 1-˝ length lead before continuing powerfully on the way to the easiest victory of the night.

A total of 55 juveniles competed in the trials with the horses with the 10 fastest times moving on to the PCQHRA Breeders final to be held on Saturday, October 3 and will be one of the marquee races held on the weekend of the Los Alamitos Equine Sale. The $375,000 purse is also $20,000 higher than that of the 2019 running. All yearlings that enter the ring at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale are eligible to run in next year's running of the PCQHRA Breeders Futurity.

Terrific Temper left the gate like a torpedo in her PCQHRA Breeders Futurity trial. The Parsons Family-bred filly covered the first 130 yards of the race in :07.915. In comparison, Chance To Excel ran the initial 130 yards of his Ed Burke Million trial win in :07.965 – or about a neck behind Terrific Temper in the early going.

"She's an amazing filly," Nicasio said. "She's really fast. I did not even push her. When I have asked her to go in the past, she has stopped."

Bella Valenzuela's Opt Out, third in the Governor's Cup Futurity in his last outing, won the third trial of the night in the second fastest qualifying time of :17.566, crossing the wire a length ahead Reason To Fly MV, a Flores-trainee who finished the night tied for the seventh fastest qualifying time of :17.725.

"He put it all together tonight" trainer Jose Flores said. "He has really matured. He's doing better and I think he'll keep doing better and better. He is better in the gates now. Raul Valenzuela rode him tonight. He fit the horse nicely and he has ridden other horses for the owner in the past. It worked out."

Purchased for $43,000 at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale last year, the gelding by Favorite Cartel has now won three of his first five starts. Steven Burns bred Opt Out, who is a full brother to PCQHRA Breeders Derby finalist You Can Run.

In addition to Opt Out and Reason To Fly MV, Flores also saddled Jim Nebeker's No Hesitation to a spot in the PCQHRA Breeders Futurity final. The Favorite Cartel gelding arrived at Los Alamitos after winning the Utah-bred Futurity at Wyoming Downs on July 25. He entered these trials after a modest 300-yard gate work under the lights of :16.50 on August 23.

"It was not an impressive workout but he's the same way as his brother, Favorite Motion," Flores said. "I had him as well and whenever he worked by himself, he would never work. I knew the family does that, so I wasn't worried when I saw No Hesitation's time. When it came down to business Favorite Motion would put it all together and do things right. Richard Frandsen bred and sold (No Hesitation). I have to thank him for breeding these horses. I had an interest in buying this horse. I didn't get to buy the horse, but they gave me the opportunity to train him."

Ed Allred's Monopolist, who ran second to Terrific Temper in the trials, finished with the third fastest time of :17.625. Trained by James Glenn Jr., the gelding by Favorite Cartel was ridden by Jesus Rios Ayala. The Allred-bred came into this race after running second in the California Breeders Freshman Stakes on July 25.

Jaime Gomez will have a strong trio of runners in the PCQHRA Breeders Futurity final as he trains the fourth, fifth and sixth fastest qualifiers. Owned by Gomez and Juan Silla, The Best Feeling ran third to Terrific Temper in their trial, but her time of :17.667 was the fourth fastest of the night. Haras Portofino's Rite On Time, the winner of the seventh and final heat, finished with the fifth fastest time of :17.671, while Javier Chavez, Gomez and Juan H. Moya's Thats R Best Card finished with the sixth fastest time of :17.709. The Best Feeling and Thats R Best Card were both sired by Gomez's stallion, Docs Best Card.

"Thats R Best Card is really honest horse," Gomez said. "He's a nice, quiet, beautiful horse. He came into his trial very fresh. His last race came in the Ed Burke Million Futurity final. I gave him some time off. He's also in the trials to the Golden State Million Futurity (on October 18), so I wanted to give him some time off. His father, Docs Best Card, he made every dance. Docs Best Card was a quiet horse. He had a super good mind. He's passing that quality on to his babies. I'm really happy with him as a stallion."

Linda Gordon's Ynot The Favorite and Les and Kim Sweeting's BF Outfoosed completed the list of qualifiers after finishing 1-2 in the opening trial. Ridden by Oscar Peinado for trainer Mike Robbins, Ynot The Favorite outdueled BF Outfoosed by a neck while posting the ninth fastest qualifying time. BF Outfoosed, meanwhile, qualified to his third futurity, adding the PCQHRA Breeders Futurity to his appearances in the Ed Burke Million and Governor's Cup Futurity.
