LOS ALAMITOS, CA—OCTOBER 25, 2020—A perfect start plus a flawless journey equaled a convincing victory for Chris Sutton's CM Dillingham Advice in the $99,350 Wild West Futurity on Sunday at Los Alamitos.

With leading Quarter Horse rider Jesus Rios Ayala up for trainer Monty Arrossa, CM Dillingham Advice came away sharply from the outside post 10 and was in control from the time track announcer Michael Wrona said "Racing!" on the way to a 1 ˝ length victory in the 350-yard race.

"The horse was very relaxed in the starting gate," Rios Ayala said. "He had a very good start. He lugged out in the trials, but he was very professional tonight. At the break, it was his race to win. It felt like he was doing things easy, but the horses on the inside were coming after us."

Bred by Nicky Lowe, the gelding by Best Advice covered the distance in :17.739 while picking up his second win in four starts. He earned $41,727 for the win to take his career earnings to $54,510. Prior to his fourth place finish in the trials to the Wild West, CM Dillingham Advice was second in the John Deere Emerald Downs Juvenile Challenge.

"We hadn't had the horse very long," Arrossa said. "Nick Lowe and Chris Sutton had him up in the Northwest. They did a great job with him. We got him just before the Wild West trials. We were able to track him and stand him a few times. I think that first time he just needed the experience under the lights. He got a little wide leaving there. He showed up there that he had a lot of speed. Those guys they always do a great job with the horses. He was easy for me. They did all the hard work."

This was Arrossa's second win in the Wild West to tie Jaime Gomez and Bret Vickery for the stakes record. His first Wild West came with Bannister in 2016.

"When (CM Dillingham Advice) drew the 10 hole, I was okay with it. He's settled in really well out here. He's a good eater. He's pretty professional. I'm happy for those guys. I've known Chris most of my life. He's from the Washington area and I trained horses in Kennewick. It's fun to train for good people in our industry. He doesn't run a lot of horses but he runs good horses. They are very involved because it's a family operation for them. His wife and kids are all involved. They're really good people. Hopefully they leave him here for the Los Alamitos Winter Derby. I hope the horse stays down here. We try to promote the Northwest horses coming down here and we like them to stay down here and continue to run."

The Wild West is a race designed to encourage horses from 12 different Quarter Horse racing circuits to compete at Los Alamitos once their main seasons are done. Past winners have included Champion of Champions winner Zoomin For Spuds and multiple graded derby winner Moonie Blues.

"It's a good group of horses that have won this race before," Arrossa added. "I hope this horse is that good. He ran pretty impressive up there. I know that in the (John Deere) he didn't break and kind of came around and nearly caught the winner. He's shown that he has speed. The former owners of his sire, Best Advice, are the Mullronys. I've trained for them. They had Jess Tellin Tales here last year. Cameron and Lean they are very involved and follow their stud's progeny. They are probably as excited as anyone about this win."

XG Bar Racing's Proud Movin Renegade finished second for jockey Jesus Valenzuela and trainer Jose Flores. The son of Maknmoves, who previously won the Bitterroot Futurity, earned $16,890 for the effort.

Justin Lewis' Carters Cartel filly Delila Rose finished third for trainer Matt Fales. With Erasmo Gasca up, Delila Rose earned $11,922 for his effort.

Quirksome, Threefamousdiamonds, Gulfstream 650, RMR Take Notes, Relentless Six, One Sweet Morgan and Bravo Delta Charlie completed the field.
