PHOENIX, AZ—FEBRUARY 5, 2020—Chicks Fayvorite dueled throughout to get up by a nose at the wire over Be Quiet in the $12,5000 Allred Brothers Stakes (not black type) Friday afternoon at Turf Paradise. Post-time favorite Apollitical Papa gave way late to end up third, a neck off the leaders in the blanket finish.

Making his first start away from Los Alamitos Race Course on the West Coast, Chicks Fayvorite completed the 350 yards in :17.617 seconds, equaling a 102 speed index. It was the eighth career win in 47 starts for the 8-year-old son of leading sire Favorite Cartel. Jockey Luis Valenzuela had the riding assignment.

Trainer Ralph Fales saddled the California-bred for owner-breeder Martha F. Wells. Bred from the Chicks Beduino mare, Chicks Tell, the $7,363 winner's purse boosted Chicks Fayvorite's earnings total to $124,736.

Chicks Fayvorite is a stakes-placed brother to recently crowned AQHA Racing Champion 3-Year-Old and 3-Year-Old Colt and PCQHRA's Horse of the Year Tell Cartel.

Runner-up Be Quite, a stakes winning son of Kiddy Up, earned $2,375 for second. Eloy Navarro trains the California-bred 6-year-old for owner Jose Aguilar Mendoza. Edward C. Allred bred the $67,453 earner from the Check Him Out mare Thinking Out Loud. Kevin Carbajal was riding.

A multiple Grade 1 finalist last season, Apollitical Papa earned $1,188 for third. Coming off a track-record performance in Division 1 of the Wayne Brasher Memorial in his last start, the son of leading sire Apollitical Jess races for owner-breeders Bob and Sissie McClure. Fred Danley trains the Oklahoma-bred 4-year-old out of Sissys Tres Girl by Tres Seis. He has earned $107,638 and was ridden by Duane Sterling.

Saginaw Trial, Senor Frogs, Perrys Regard, Aint My Fault, Meleros Dash, Twelve Percent and Junes Light completed the field.

The Allred Brother Stakes is named in honor of the Arizonan's Harvey, Jerry and Dale Allred, – known industry wide as the Allred Bros. – for more than four decases they devoted themselves to the American Quarter Horse, watched as the breed developed and its history unfolded, contributed heavily to the legacy and ultimately entered the chronicles themselves.

The brothers began breeding Quarter Horses on their Arizona ranch about the time Jet Deck became big in the racing world. Besides breeding to Jet Deck, they bred horses to Hempaces (TB) and other horses of similar caliber to improve the bloodlines of their mares.

The Allred Bros. became the most successful siblings in the breeding industry. They bred AQHA Racing Champion and All American Futurity (G1) winner AB What A Runner; Grade 1 winners One Slick One, A Streak Of Cash and Dash In Style; and numerous others, such as champion candidate A Dash Of Beduino and former world-record-holder This Jet Is Royal.

The Allred Bros. were inducted into the American Quarter Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 2000 and were recognized by the Arizona Racing Commission for their outstanding service to the state’s racing industry. Each of the brothers served for 20 years on the board of directors of the Arizona Quarter Racing Association, and Jerry was president for three years. In 1992, Jerry also received the Rulon Goodman Award for outstanding contributions to the Arizona Quarter Horse industry.
