Rjr Mountain Returns to win $31,782 BnB Maiden Frolic at Weber

OGDEN, UT—MAY 1, 2021—In the second stake of the afternoon at Weber Downs, Rjr Mountain outran Jumpnourchic to win the $31,782 BnB Maiden Frolic (not black-type).

Ridden by Gerardo Vera, Rjr Mountain won by three-quarters of a length and earned a 101 speed index in the 350-yard race. The final time was 17.743.

Rjr Mountain won his trial, the second of four on April 18, and was the fastest qualifier to the maiden frolic. The trials were restricted to 3-year-olds and up who were maidens at the time of entry.

Rjr Mountain is trained by Justin Clark and is a homebred for Allen B. Clark and David Schofield. The Utah-bred gelding is by Jr Dynasty Mountain and is out of the Shazoom mare R Forte. As a 2-year-old, he qualified to the Wyoming Downs Futurity.

Jumpnourchic and Santiago Jimenez edged out Kool Jerry by a neck at the wire to take second place.

The 3-year-old Utah-bred gelding was also second in his trial for the maiden frolic. He qualified to the Utah Bred Futurity at Wyoming Downs and competed at Los Alamitos over the winter.

Sergio Canales trains Jumpnourchic for owners BNB Running. He was bred by White Horse Racing LLC, by Jumpn Chic and out of Mp Perfect Margarita by Corona Cocktail.

Kool Jerry was ridden by Jesus Canales for trainer Sergio Canales. He is owned by Casey Whitaker and was bred in Utah by Kent McKell, by Paint Me Perry and out of A Striking Chick, by Striking Distance.

The 3-year-old gelding qualified to the Utah Bred Futurity last July and was fourth in the Pocatello Downs Juvenile Challenge in the fall. He won his trial on April 18 and was the sixth fastest qualifier.

Completing the field were Set Forth, A Trace of Lane, Suite Josephine, Left Handed Man, Makn Vital Moves, Primal Instincts and Gotta Bad Habit. Fancy Mamasita and J Big Daddys Girl.
