EVANSTON, WY—JULY 18, 2021—Ocean Voyage broke his maiden in the second of four trials on Sunday for the $10,000-added Gary Waite Maiden Stakes (not black type) at Wyoming Downs. The son of champion and champion sire Ocean Runaway posted the fastest time from 40 3-year-olds and up who participated in the trials.

The 10 fastest will return to Wyoming Downs on Sunday, August 1st to vie for a share of the winner's purse going 330 yards.

Ridden by jockey Gerardo Vera, Ocean Voyage defeated fellow qualifier by a neck to establish the top time of :16.727 seconds, a 95 speed index. It was the first win in 11 career starts for the 3-year-old colt trained by Daren Jones.

A Idaho homebred racing for Kent and Linda Jones, the gray colt is from the Coastal Voyage (TB) mare Cassies Jet Voyage. He has compiled an (11) 1-2-3 record and banked $11,635. He was second in the 89 & Under Stakes (not black type) at Wyoming Downs on June 27th.

Quirksome, a 3-year-old son of champion Foose, was a three-quarter length winner in the third trial to garner the second fastest time of :16.744 seconds, also a 95 speed index. David Newbold conditions the two-time winner for himself and co-owner Brent Farley.

Second in the Maiden Frolic (not black type) earlier this year at Pocatello Downs, the California bred is out of Dont Pass Bar by A Regal Choice. Ed Allred bred the earner of $17,241.
