PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ—JULY 21, 2021—Six Ninety One, by a son of the A.P. Indy stallion Congrats who is currently North America's winningest Thoroughbred with nine victories in 2021, won an 870-yard Quarter Horse race by a nose at Arizona Downs on Tuesday.

However, the victory doesn't count toward the 9-year-old gelding's lead as the winningest Thoroughbred, because Equibase ranks Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred races separately.

Six Ninety One still a two-win cushion over four other Thoroughbreds tied with seven victories apiece. His10 total mixed-meet victories through nearly seven months of racing is still an achievement.

Six Ninety One's 10th 2021 win came in an $8,000 allowance under jockey Keivan Serrano as the 7-5 favorite. Trainer Alfredo Asprino owns the gelding in partnership with Jesus Vielma. His winning time was :44.975, a 101 speed index.

Higwire Dance, an Oklahoma-bred son of multiple stakes sire High Rate Of Return, finished a nose back in second for owner-trainer Jesus Olivas-Valenzuela. Dream Walkin Farms, Inc. bred the 6-year-old gelding from the Dance Manster (TB) mare A Day For Dancing (TB). Michael Ybarra was riding.

Six Ninety One was bred in Kentucky by Edwin and Melissa Anthony. He sold for $75,000 at Keeneland September Yearling Sale in 2013, then again for $59,000 at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale. A

Six Ninety One has won two other races against Quarter Horses in 870-yard races in 2019 at Arizona Downs and Arapahoe Park. He has earned over $165,000.
