SHAKOPOEE, MN—JULY 28, 2021—Stakes winner Streakinlilwagon bested B Boujee by a neck Wednesday night at Canterbury Park while posting the fastest qualifying time for the Canterbury Park Derby.
The 10 fastest qualifiers, from three trials contested over 400 yards for 3-year-old Quarter Horses, will return to Canterbury Park on Wednesday, August 11th to vie the winner's share of a $83,000 purse.
Under jockey Storm Smith, Streakinlilwagon raced over the fast track in :19.791 seconds, equaling a 99 speed index into a 20 mph headwind. It was the sixth career win for the daughter of multiple stakes sire Fast Prize Jordan. The bay filly picked entered the trials off a runner-up effort in the $50,000 Princess Derby at Ajax Downs on July 14th.
Jason Pascoe conditions the Oklahoma homebred for owner-breeders GFR Equine Services. Out of the Streakin La Jolla mare La Jollas Fortune, Streakinlilwagon has compiled a (11) 6-1-2 record and banked $74,351. She won the Alex Picov Memorial Futurity at Ajax last year.
B Boujee held on to collect the second-fastest time of :19.830 seconds, also a 99 speed index, for owner Runningdownadream Partners. Ed Hardy trains the stakes-placed daughter of multiple stakes sire Tres Seis from the Valiant Hero mare Glory Rider.
Homer Hill bred B Bjouee in Oklahoma. She was third in the Valley Junction Futurity and 4th in the Heritage Place Juvenile at 2 and has earned just over $29,000 in eight starts.
