Alluring Winner Dominates $31,600 Jones Bloodstock Starter Stakes at Sam Houston

HOUSTON, TX—JULY 30, 2021—Alluring Winner, the heavy post-time favorite, did not disappoint as the winner of the $31,600 Jones Bloodstock Starter Stakes at Sam Houston on Friday night.

Alluring Winner ($2.60) and Victor Urieta, Jr. won as they pleased in the starter stakes event. The pair led from the gate and extended it into a one and one-quarter easy win in 17.977 for the 350-yard race. Alluring Winner earned an 88 speed index.

Alonso Neri trains the 4-year-old gelding for owner Carlos Ponce. He was bred in Texas by Thomas and Elizabeth Mills, by Specially Alluring and out of the Runaway Winner mare Runaway Nightmare.

Alluring Winner was the odds-on favorite after winning his previous race, also a starter stakes, by a length and a half. With Friday’s win, he is four for 13 lifetime with $79,052.

The winner could not be caught, by Th Dancing Darlene and Claudio Aguilar led the rest of the field to finish second by a half-length.

Th Dancing Darlene is a 4-year-old daughter of Dealagame, out of Dancing Beth, by Sixavike. She ventured into stakes company for the first time on Friday night. She debuted at Retama and won a claiming race at Sam Houston in her most recent start.

Th Dancing Darlene is trained by Brian Stroud for owner and breeder Raymond T. Hamilton. She has won two of her 11 lifetime starts and has earned $27,421.

Butch Glory and Melody Brooks completed the trifecta for owner and trainer Andre Brooks. Mary Lou Zoeller bred the 3-year-old gelding by Shazooms Glory Dash, out of Quirky Myrt, by Jet Cartel.

In his previous start, Butch Glory competed in the King William Stakes, also at Sam Houston. He has earned $20,689 in 12 career starts.

Completing the field were Senorita Teekila, Arturo Carrillo, Francisco Mendez, Jose Olivo and Our Prize Fighter.
