Deal Me A Jess Wins North Dakota Horse Park Quarter Horse Open Futurity

FARGO, ND—AUGUST 1, 2021—Deal Me A Jess broke on top and maintained her lead to win by a half-length in the $10,000 North Dakota Horse Park Quarter Horse Open Futurity (not black-type) on Sunday afternoon.

Deal Me A Jess ($14.40) was an upset winner of the 300-yard race. Giovany Estrada guided the filly to victory in 16.019 to earn an 84 speed index.

Deal Me A Jess is a South Dakota-bred filly by First Down Mr. Jess, out of the Dealagame mare Eyema Game Dealer. Amanda Haar trains for owner and breeder Thomas Anderberg.

She is now two for four lifetime. She debuted in a trial for the MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity in Canterbury before a third-place finish in the Chippewa Downs Open Quarter Horse Futurity.

Gold Medal Soldier, the post-time favorite, finished second with Brian Beetum aboard. Junior Dolphus owns and trains the Bv Travelin Soldier gelding. He was bred by Wade Leggett in North Dakota, out of Gold Medal Jano, by Strawfly Special.

Gold Medal Soldier began his career undefeated in three starts at Chippewa and Fargo before finishing fifth in the NDQHRA Futurity in July.

Mr Wicked Colors and Duane Salvino completed the trifecta for trainer Amanda Haar. Bill Geditz owns and bred the colt in South Dakota, by Mr Special Colors and out of Ragz to Riches, by Ragazzo.

Mr Wicked Colors has hit the board twice in four career starts at Chippewa and North Dakota. This was his first placing in a stakes race.

Completing the field were Firstjesstothemoon and Sexirita. Hasta Fast Cash, Jds Royal Hope and Jess Perrys Gol were scratched.
