LMG First Call Breaks Maiden In $50,000 Zia Quarter Horse Juvenile

LMG First Call Breaks Maiden In $50,000 Zia Quarter Horse Juvenile

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 1, 2021—LMG First Call held off Jaunt to get his first career win in the $50,000 Zia Quarter Horse Juvenile Sunday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs. Daddies Wish was another neck back in the blanket-finish to get third.

Under jockey Raul Valenzuela, LMG First Call went wire-to-wire covering the 400 yards in :19.866 seconds a 91 speed index. The win payday was valued at $21,000.

Trainer Michael Joiner conditions the New Mexico homebred son of champion sire First Moonflash for owner-breeder LMG Racing Inc. The brown gelding is out of Call Me 333 by One Sweet Jess.

Runner-up Jaunt, a $30,000 Ruidoso New Mexico-Bred Yearling Sale graduate races for owners Haskell and Jacque Rich. Winless in three starts the son of leading New Mexico sire Big Daddy Cartel is trained by Casey Lambert. New Mexico leading breeder, MJ Farms, bred the bay gelding from the Dash Ta Fame mare Sandys Fame. The $9,000 payday boosted Jaunt's earnings to $11,540. Mario Delgado was up.

Also bred by MJ Farms, Daddies Wish earned $5,000 for third. Trainer Albert Valles conditions the Big Daddy Cartel filly for owners Julie Schoenhofer, Maricela Vasquez and Julieta Torres. Sergio Becerra, Jr. was aboard the gray filly out of Wish You Had One by Stel Corona. A $32,000 Ruidioso Select Yearling Sale graduate, Daddies Wish has earned $7,435 in four starts.

Completing the official order of finish were Ms Flashin Ivory, Liarliarlegsonfire, Dennarro, Pennie Wize, Bad Kompany and Just de Vine. Touraine lost the rider at the break.
