HOBBS, NM—OCTOBER 9, 2021—In her first start since winning the restricted Grade 1 Zia Futurity at Ruidoso Downs in July, Flashin Fire raced to his third consecutive win while posting the fastest time for the New Mexico Classic Futurity(RG2) at Zia Park Sunday afternoon.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from six trials contested for state-bred 2-year-olds, will return to the Zia Park on Sunday, October 31st to vie for the winner's share of a $350,000-est. purse going 350 yards.

Under jockey Juan Pulido, Flashin Fire drove to victory in the closing trial while posting an :17.939 clocking, an 86 speed index into a 17 mph crosswind, the fastest of the day.

Trainer Santos Carrizales, Jr. saddled the son of champion sire First Moonflash to his third consecutive win in five starts for owner Josefina Guzman. Bred by Donna McPherson and Mike Abraham, from the Walk Thru Fire mare Episode Of Fire, Flashin Fire has earned $144,549 .

Runner-up Daddies Wish held onto the second fastest time of :17.942 seconds, also an 86 speed index, for owners Julie Schoenhofer and Maricela Vasquez. Eric Valenzuela trains the Big Daddy Cartel filly out of Wish You Had One To, by Stel Corona.

Ridden by Adrian Ramos, the $32,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate entered the race off a third-place effort in the New Mexico State Fair Juvenile on September 19th. Bred by MJ Farms, the gray filly was also third in the Zia QH Juvenile and a finalist in the Mountain Top Juvenile at Ruidoso last summer. Daddies Wish has earned $16,036 in seven starts.

Trainer Michael Joiner sent out LMG First Call, a homebred son of First Moonflash racing for owner-breeder LMG Racing, Inc., to the third fastest time of :17.989 seconds, an 85 speed index into an 18 mph crosswind.

Ridden by jockey Jose Alvarez, LMG First Class was a neck winner in the fifth trial over Liarliarlegsonfire. Bred from the One Sweet Jess mare Call Me 333, LMG First Call has banked $29,308 this season.
