One Valiant Love Blows Field Away In $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–JUNE 3, 2023–After three horses scratched from the $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile, it didn’t leave much competition for One Valiant Love, who was sent off at 8-5 odds on Saturday.

The 2-year-old gelded American Quarter Horse proved that to be the case with a 1-1/4 length victory, cruising home easily under jockey Francisco Calderon. It was the first win in this stakes series for Calderon, trainer Monty Arrossa and owner Dunn Ranch of Wynnewood, Okla.

Well beaten in second was Deck Stack, the second betting favorite at 5-2, who was another half-length in front of Docs Dusty Dash (8-1) who finished third.

One Valiant Love, a 2-year-old son of One Valiant Hero, out of the One Famous Eagle mare Echoes of Love, was purchased for $27,000 at the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale last fall. He is now two-for-three in the winner’s circle and was second by a neck in his other start, compiling $44,364 in his young racing career. He won $31,645 for his juvenile victory.

Running time for the winner at 350 yards was :17.335, earning a speed-index of 95 on the fast track. One Valiant Love paid $5.40 to win, $3.60 to place and $2.80 to show. Calderon has been aboard for both of his wins. He took over in the saddle after he lost his first race. Now he has a trial win and a stakes win with One Valiant Love.

Runner-up Deck Stack clocked the fastest qualifying time in the trials, but was just no match for One Valiant Love. The Oklahoma-bred gelding piloted by jockey James Flores and is conditioned by trainer Dee Keener. The son of Docs Best Card has one win and one second from three starts with $27,861 in the bank.

Breeders J. Garvan Kelly and J. Lloyd Yother sold Deck Stack for $28,000 in the 2022 Heritage Place Yearling Sale. Elizabeth Logan now owns the two-year-old gelding out of Ring A Ring Of Roses by Jess Lips.

Trainer Stacey Capps saddled jockey Eugenio Navarrete aboard third place finisher Docs Dusty Dash. The son of Docs Best Card has yet to break his maiden with one second and two thirds from four starts and $18,942 in career earnings.

Bred and owned by Dusty Rose Ranch, LLC of Oklahoma, Docs Dusty Dash is out of the Okey Dokey Dale mare Docs Dusty Dale.

The remaining order of finish is Paint This Rose, Jt True Grit, Bv Brother and Coronados Fate. Aj Rock My Heart Ajs Little Reba and Lady Corona 123 were all scratched by their trainers.
