SELMA, TX—JUNE 2, 2020—In a press release Thursday, Retama Park announced, subject to Texas Racing Commission approval, live racing will return to the San Antonio area racetrack on Friday, July 3.

The revised schedule will feature Quarter Horse racing exclusively for a 24-day meet.

The racetrack is monitoring announcements of the state's plans regarding crowds and sporting events and will make a determination closeer to the start of the meet regarding areas that will be accessible for live racing.

“We want to thank all the racing stakeholders in the state who were supportive of the changes to the upcoming meet and are looking forward to a successful start on the holiday weekend,” said Retama Park General Manager Angela Cooper.

Retama Park will reopen for simulcasting on Friday (June 5) and will offer wagering on races from racetracks throughout North America on a Wednesday through Sunday schedule.

The track will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for simulcasting until further notice.

Simulcasting will be conducted exclusively on the Grandstand Level of the main building (2nd floor) at up to 25% of that floor's total listed capacity. The Texas Minimum Standard Heath Protocols for opening simulcasting will be in effect, including social distancing, frequent hand washing and recommended wearing of masks.
