Wyoming Downs Receives Approval For Live Racing With Crowds Beginning July 4

EVANSTON, WY—JUNE 5, 2020—Wyoming Downs has announced it has received authorization to proceed with live racing starting July 4 through August 16. Approval came on June 4 from Uinta County and Wyoming State Health officers. Permission requires a limit of1,500 spectators per day and that the track follow all Covid 19 related specifications.

Frank Lamb, Wyoming Downs Director of Government Affairs said, "Wyoming Downs wants to express our gratitude to the many government agencies who's approvals signal their recognition of the importance of the horse industry to the State of Wyoming, Among the agencies involved are the Uinta County Commission, the Uinta County Attorney's office, the Uinta County Health Officer along with Governor Mark Gordon, State Health Officer Dr.Alexia Harrist and the Wyoming Gaming Commission. We deeply appreciate their trust in us to carry out the orders in a responsible and thorough manner."

Owner and General Manager Eric Nelson said, "We are really excited to be going forward with our season and welcoming live crowds. Purses are the highest in our history and that's going to add to the excitement. We know people are looking forward to coming back to the track and the summer fun that live racing brings."

Gates open at 11:30 AM with the first post at 1:05 PM. General admission is $10.00 with children under 12 free in the general admission stands. Clockers corner seats are $20.00 per person.

Races will feature approximately 9 horses racing in each of the 8 races per day. Racing usually conclude between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM.

Wyoming Downs will host special events every day throughout the season. Among the popular events are the Fifth Annual Brew Fest, Pink Out Day at the Races honoring cancer survivors, and Ladies Day.

2020 marks the eighth consecutive race season since owner Eric Nelson repurchased Wyoming Downs and began racing in 2013. Live racing marked a resurgence of area industries related to racing. Wyoming Downs is the only privately owned racetrack in Wyoming.

After the races, Wyoming Downs invites those over the age of 18 to its off-track betting facility at 1925 Harrison Drive, Evanston, 92930.
