Dexxter, Shott Gun Top First AQHA Racing Polls of 2020

AMARILLO, TX—JUNE 15, 2020—The recently concluded Remington Park meet produced the top-ranked horses in the first AQHA Racing National Polls of the year with Dexxter leading the older-horse (3-year-olds and up) rankings and Shott Gun taking the No. 1 spot in the 2-year-old poll. Winners of graded stakes at Los Alamitos and Ruidoso Downs followed close behind.

Dexxter earned the top spot in the older-horse poll after scoring a pair of Grade 1 wins at Remington Park in the Leo Stakes and Debbie Schauf Remington Park Invitational Championship.

The Utah-bred gelding by Corona Cartel also earned horse-of-the-meet honors at the Oklahoma City track. The 4-year-old runs for owners Dunn Ranch and Valeriano Racing Stables LLC.

Another unbeaten runner this year, the 3-year-old filly Hotsempting, took the No. 2 spot with the highlight of her season to date coming in the Grade 1 Ruidoso Derby in New Mexico, where she scored a decisive victory. The daughter of Tempting Dash has earned $385,555 this year to lead all older horses.

Tell Cartel, a 3-year-old colt by Favorite Cartel with a pair of graded stakes wins at Los Alamitos in California this year, rounds out the top three.

In the 2-year-old poll, Shott Gun landed atop the rankings with a resume that includes an upset victory in the Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity at Remington Park. The Texas-bred gelding by Valiant Hero has earned $356,099 for breeder/owner Bobby Cox.

Two horses tied for the second position in the juvenile rankings: Aint She Tempting, runner-up in the Heritage Place Futurity and winner of the Oklahoma Futurity (G2); and Cyber Monday, winner of the Ruidoso Futurity (G1) and currently North America’s leading earner with a bankroll of $424,800.
