Zia Park canceled Sunday's card following Race 4 due to mechanical issues.

HOBBS, NM–NOVEMBER 24, 2024–Due to mechanical issues, Zia Park was forced to cancel the remainder of Sunday's heavy-laden stakes card.

The first of seven black-type races for New Mexico breds, celebrating the New Mexico Classic Quarter Horse Day. was won by multiple stakes winner Pavel (see related story).

Races five through 10 were canceled and will be rescheduled by the racetrack.

Those races included the $340,708 New Mexico Classic QH Futurity(RG2), $229,210 New Mexico Classic QH Derby(RG2), $200,000 Namehimastreaker NM Classic QH Championship (RG1), New Mexico Classic QH Filly and Mares Championship(RG3), New Mexico Classic QH 870 Stakes(RG3), and Mexico Classic QH Sophomore Stakes.
