ELGIN, TX—OCTOBER 2, 2025—The Texas Quarter Horse Association (TQHA) has announced that regular nominations for the $75,000-added 2026 Texas Breeders Futurity are due October 15, 2025. The nomination fee is $250, and the race is open to all 2024 Accredited Texas-Bred foals.

OPELOUSAS, LA –SEPTEMBER 30, 2025–Evangeline Downs will kick off the American Quarter Horse season on Wednesday, October 1.
The season will cover 46 days of racing and finish with a dozen stake races on the Million Night card on December 20. Numerous stake races and fun nights for families are also scheduled.
Trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr., will bring a full stable to the backside to defend his back-to-back training titles. The Roberts, Sr. contingent won 20 races to take the 2024 title. ALTOONA, IA—SEPTEMBER 27, 2025—The 2025 live Quarter Horse meet at Prairie Meadows, which ran from May 9 through September 27, has wrapped up with familiar names leading the trainer, jockey, and owner standings.
Trainer Standings
Leading trainer honors went to Jason L. Olmstead, whose barn sent out 32 winners from 208 starts, while also saddling 43 seconds and 39 thirds. His horses earned a meet-leading $1,010,521, giving him a 15% win rate.

ODESSA, TX–SEPTEMBER 28, 2025–Herb Graham, a respected West Texas horseman and one of the pioneers in Quarter Horse and Paint racing, passed away on September 25, 2025. He was born May 15, 1938, in Eunice, New Mexico, and over the course of his 87 years left a lasting imprint not only on the racing industry but also on business, music, and community life.

BRYAN, TX–SEPTEMBER 28, 2025—The Quarter Horse racing and breeding industry lost a great horseman with the passing of James “Jim” M. Eller Jr., who died on Friday, September 26, 2025. He was 93. Eller leaves a legacy in both the cattle and quarter horse racing industries.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–SEPTEMBER 26, 2025–The Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association has released the official schedule and program details for the 2026 Quarter Horse, Paint, and Appaloosa racing season. The season will begin March 5, 2026, at Remington Park in Oklahoma City and conclude November 18, 2026, at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore.
Across the three racetracks, horsemen will have access to over 10,000 racing opportunities and compete for over $20 million in purses, with 65% of those funds dedicated to overnight races.

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–SEPTEMBER 24, 2025–The General Manager of Ruidoso Downs Racetrack and Casino announced Wednesday that the long-awaited Debris Removal Document has officially arrived, clearing the way for cleanup efforts on the storm-damaged track.
