CASPER, WY–NOVEMBER 24, 2025–During the Wyoming Gaming Commission's Annual Fall Meeting held on Friday, November 21, 2025, in Casper, Wyoming, the Commissioners approved the requests by the four licensed state operators to conduct 75 live race dates in Wyoming for 2026.
307 Horse Racing, Inc. will offer 18 live race days with a different format for 2026. Six (6) of those 18 race days will be held at Energy Downs in Gillette, racing May 23, 24, 25, 29, 30, and 31. The remaining race dates will be held at Wyoming Downs on June 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, and 28.
Wyoming Downs, LLC requested to race 20 days at the Evanston-based track in 2026, which will include Friday afternoon racing, as well as two (2) new Thursday events. They will run July 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 23, 24, 25, 26, 31, and August 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9. ...

ALEXANDRIA, LA—NOVEMBER 24, 2025—Nominations are now open for the 2025 edition of Louisiana Champions Day, which will be contested Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in Opelousas. ELGIN, TX—NOVEMBER 24, 2025—The Texas Quarter Horse Association is reminding breeders and owners of several key dates approaching as preparations continue for the 2026 racing season, including the opening of the annual TQHA Stallion Auction and important futurity and accreditation deadlines.
The 2026 TQHA Stallion Auction will open December 1, 2025, and close at noon on January 8, 2026. More than 110 stallions have already been consigned, featuring a strong mix of proven sires of champion runners along with an array of promising young stallions.

OPELOUSAS, LA–NOVEMBER 23, 2025–A potentially catastrophic scene unfolded Saturday night at Evangeline Downs in Opelousas, Louisiana, when an ambulance traveling the wrong direction on the racetrack forced a field of Quarter Horses and their jockeys to take evasive action during the eighth race.
The incident occurred in the night’s final event, an 870-yard allowance race around one turn. Eight veteran runners broke sharply from the gate, but as they approached the bend, riders suddenly began pulling up and angling their mounts off the rail. A slow-moving Acadian Ambulance vehicle had appeared on the inside of the track—heading directly toward the oncoming horses.

SHAKOPEE, MN–NOVEMBER 20, 2025–Canterbury Park’s request for a 51-day horse racing season in 2026, running Saturday, May 23 through Saturday, Sept. 19, was unanimously approved today by the Minnesota Racing Commission.
Racing will be conducted on Thursdays and Saturdays at 5 p.m. central and Sundays and holidays at 1 p.m. Additional race dates include Monday, May 25, Friday, July 3, and Wednesdays, July 22 and Sept. 16. Post time for the final week of live racing will be 4 p.m.

GUTHRIE, OK– NOVEMBER 19, 2025–The Barrel Futurities of America World Championships, originally scheduled to run November 15–22 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma, was halted on November 18 after a positive case of EHV was confirmed. The remainder of the event was cancelled immediately.
