CLAREMORE, OK—OCTOBER 31, 2015—Led by fastest qualifier First Sweet Midnite, trainer Eddie D. Willis and jockey Jimmy D. Brooks dominated seven trials Saturday for the $310,00 Black Gold 440 Futurity Championship(RG3) landing three into the rich finale.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from the 57 two-year-olds who participated in Saturday's trials at Will Rogers Downs, will return to the Northeastern Oklahoma racetrack on Sunday, November 15th and vie for the $124,000 winner's purse.

Brooks rode the lightly raced First Sweet Midnite to an impressive 2-½-length victory in the fourth trial over a sloppy sealed racetrack. His time of :21.827 seconds, a 97 speed index with a 6 mph crosswind, set the bar for the Black Gold hopefuls.

Willis trains the Sweet First Down gelding for owner Bret Carpenter. Bred by Dustin and Rusty Carpenter from the Special Leader mare Midnite Soirée, the brown gelding entered the race off a one-length maiden win at Will Rogers October 3. He has won two of four starts and earned $10,870 this year.

Willis and Brooks also teamed to qualify Train Story 4th fastest and Shaken Pappasito 7th fastest.

Trainer Kasey Willis saddled Boogies Special Dash to his first win and the second fastest clocking of :21.878 seconds, a 96 speed index. Cesar Gomez was aboard the Walk Thru Fire gelding who entered the trials off two third place finishes at Ruidoso over the summer in the Ruidoso and All American Futurity trials.

Kenneth Ruthardt owns the California bred from the Strawfly Special mare Boogie Special. Jaime Gomez is the breeder.

Highway prevailed in the third trial by one-length under jockey Jesus Salazar. Trainer Donnie Lee Strickland saddled the Jess Zoomin gelding to the third fastest time of :21.094 seconds, a 95-speed index. It was the second win in five starts for the Gene Cox owned Oklahoma-bred. Teddy Abrams, Jr. bred Highway from the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare The Fashion Wagon.

Four of 10 qualifiers came from the third trial.
