Dg Tempter Wins Third Straight, Sets Top Mark in RG3 Black Gold 440 Futurity Championship Trials

Dg Tempter Wins Third Straight, Sets Top Mark in RG3 Black Gold 440 Futurity Championship Trials

CLAREMORE, OK—OCTOBER 27, 2017—Dg Tempter won with authority as he raced to his third consecutive win while posting the fastest qualifying time for the $282,552 Black Gold 440 Futurity Championship Friday afternoon at Will Rogers Downs.

The first of three qualifiers ridden by jockey Mario Delgado, Dg Tempter won by two-lengths while completing the 440 yards in :22.024 seconds into a 15-mph crosswind to set the day's top mark.

Trainer Hipolito Michel-Valverde saddled the son of champion sire Tempting Dash for owner/breeders Richard and Genevieve Herrman. The Colorado-bred has compiled a (6) 3-2-0 record this year and banked $15,572. The Black Gold 440 Futurity Championship will be the first stakes appearance for the gelding out of Dg Miss Daisy by Bully Bullion.

Hot Dam Bam A Lam broke his maiden in the fourth trial (Race 8) with a neck win over Fast N Furious 123 to set the second fastest time of :22.142 seconds.

Trainer Donnie Lee Strickland saddled the Oklahoma-bred son of Captain Courage for owner/breeder Gene Cox. Gonzalo Gutierrez rode the gelding from the Hot Colours mare Hot Nova.

Fast N Furious 123 stepped up from a $10,000 claiming win at Will Rogers in his last start October 8th to hang on to the third fastest time of :22.186 seconds. Jose Vicente Robles Silva owns the Furyofthewind gelding out of Tresor 123 by Tres Seis. Carolyn Bay bred the Michigan-bred gelding. Carlos Ruiz trains with Mario Delgado riding.

Coming off a third-place effort in the Grade 2 Dash For Cash Futurity at Lone Star Park on September 30, Cloud Ridge won the opening trial (Race 4) and posted the fourth fastest clocking of :22.235 seconds. Stacy Capps conditions the stakes winning son of Carters Cartel out of Snow Clouds by This Snow Is Royal.

Randy Davis is the owner/breeder of the Oklahoma-bred winner of the Easy Jet Stakes(RG3) at Remington Park in June. Cloud Ridge has compiled a (6) 4-1-1 record and banked more than $83,000 this season. Berkely Packer was riding.

Hipolito Michel-Valverde also saddled fifth fastest qualifier Captain Force. Trainers Donnie Lee Strickland and Carlos Ruiz also had two qualifiers each.

The ten fastest qualifiers, from six trials races today, will return to Will Rogers Downs on Saturday, November 11th to vie for the winner's purse valued at $113,021.

The Black Gold 440 Futurity Championship is the second in a two-series race for 2-year-olds sire by participating stallion. The $282,552 Black Gold 350 Futurity Championship was contested earlier this fall. An additional $29,742 is paid out by the program in stallion awards.
