Femme Fatalia Dominates Wyoming Downs Futurity Trials
Stakes-placed Femme Fatalia, under jockey Cordarelton Benn, posted the fastest time from five trials for the Wyoming Downs Futurity at Evanston Saturday afternoon.

Femme Fatalia Dominates Wyoming Downs Futurity Trials

EVANSTON, WY—AUGUST 4, 2018—Making her first start since a second-place effort in the $92,233 Beehive Futurity in June, Femme Fatalia defeated Heztwoforthedough by one-length to post the top qualifying time for the Wyoming Downs Futurity Saturday afternoon in Evanston.

Femme Fatalia flew from the gates under jockey Cordarelton Benn to complete the 350 yards task in :17.660 seconds, a 92 speed index into a 5 mph crosswind.

Trainer Glade Van Tassell saddled the California-bred daughter of Favorite Cartel to her second win in three starts for owner Melody Olsen. She has earned $19,877.

Bred in California by Steve D. Burns, DVM, the filly out of Kool Kue Chick, by Chicks Beduino, pulled four horses from her trial into the final.

Louisiana Ez, a multiple stakes qualifying son of champion sire Louisiana Cartel, was an impressive 1-˝ length winner in the third trial to earn the second fastest clocking of :17.828 seconds.

He is the first of two Wyoming Downs Futurity qualifiers saddled by trainer Diana Garfias. Jockey Oscar Cervantes had the riding call for owners Dennis Jensen and Randy Young.

Bred in Texas by Jorge Haddad, from the Newarco mare Newarcos Bambina, Louisiana Ez has earned $8,942 this season while qualifying to the Hadley/Giles Memorial Futurity and the John Deere Sandy Downs Juvenile Challenge.

Trainer Scott Goodrich also saddled two qualifiers in today's trials.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from the 32 2-year-olds who participated in today's trials, will return to Wyoming Downs on Sunday, August 19th to vie for the winner's share of an $8,500-added purse.
