Juz Cuz Scores AQRA Southwest Futurity Win

PHOENIX, AZ—DECEMBER 30, 2018—Juz Cuz, under jockey Mark Jasso, raced to his second consecutive win Sunday when he defeated Babe Watchin by half-a-length in the $16,150 AQRA Southwest Futurity at Turf Paradise. Reginas Royal Choice finished a head back for third.

Saddled by trainer Matthew Fales, Juz Cuz raced over the 350 yards in :17.896 seconds into a 3 mph headwind to pick up the winners' purse valued at $8,075.

Osvaldo Venegas and David Guzman own the 2-year-old daughter of leading Arizona sire Texas Icon from the First Down Dash mare Cuz I Say So. Elaine Cota Robles is the breeder.

Juz Cuz has compiled a (7) 2-3-0 record this season and banked $21,462. In her last start she won the Arizona QRA Futurity in October.

The winning connections of Daddys Blushing accept the Jess Burner Memorial Handicap(RG1) stakes trophy on Friday at Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino.

Fales also saddled runner-up Babe Watchin, a son of Texas Icon owned by Ralph and Carolyn Fales. Emilio Tapia rode the bay gelding out of Watchin The Rain by Takin On The Cash. Bred by Matthew Fales, Babe Watchin earned $3,230 to bring his earnings record to $13,961 this season.

Owned-and-trained by Guillermo Morales, Reginas Royal Choice picked up $1,615 for third. Kevin Cabajal rode the Royaltys Choice filly out of Fed X Dash by Classic Dash. A Regal Choice, Inc. bred the gray filly in California. A multiple stakes-placed winner, Reginas Royal Choice has earned $10,980.

Willy Nelson, Jess Play For Me and Nochebointa completed the field. Chamaca Moon was scratched.
