Jess A Cowboy Dominates Turf Paradise Quarter Horse Championship

PHOENIX, AZ—DECEMBER 30, 2018—Jess A Cowboy, under jockey Mark Jasso, drew clear of Liddle Doc by two- lengths Sunday to win the $17,500 Turf Paradise Quarter Horse Championship. Dragon On The Moon finished a head back in the show position.

Saddled by leading trainer Matthew Fales, multiple stakes winner Jess A Cowboy raced over the 440 yards in :21.858 seconds, a 96 speed index into a 3 mph headwind, to take the winner's purse of $10,308.

It was the second stakes straight win for Fales, who saddled Jez Cruz to victory in the $16,150 AQRA Southwest Futurity in the opening race, on Sunday at Turf Paradise.

A homebred son of Dejon, racing for owner Larry Stark, Jess A Cowboy has compiled an (35) 11-10-4 record and banked more than $215,000. He is out of the Canth mare Secret Return.

John and Mary Allred's Liddle Doc earned $3,325 for second. Bred in Arizona by J & M Farm, LLC, Little Doc is a 5-year-old son of leading sire FDD Dynasty from the Pritzi Dash are Her Dashiness. Rick Oliver rode the earner of $20,870.

Dragon On The Moon, under jockey Michael Ybarra, picked up $1,663 for third. Orlando Guerrero conditions the Zulue Dragon gelding out of Go Go Moon (TB) by Your Eminence (TB) for owner Miguel Patron, Jr. Jodi MacKey bred the brown gelding in New Mexico. He earned $1,633 for the effort.

Higher Icon, Dig Deeper, Volcano, Ketels Kitten, Jay Collins, Nevada Cat and Captain On Takeoff completed the field.
