ROCK SPRINGS, WY—SEPTEMBER 8, 2019—Multiple stakes winner A Toast To Brindis continues to rack up the stakes victories with a win in the first race on the card at Sweetwater on Sunday, the $13,500 Rock Springs Wyoming Bred Maturity (not black type).
The 4-year-old gelding has won five of his last six races and has won the last three stakes wins he has entered.
In Sunday’s win, A Toast To Brindis ($4.40) and jockey Oscar Cervantes ran well late to take the 400-yard stake in 19.539 and earned a 107 speed index.
A Toast to Brindis is trained by Jesse Villegas for owner and breeder Gerald Kaul. Kaul bred the gelding in Wyoming by Brindis Por Cayenne and out of the Beduino Secret mare A Secret Life.
He is now 13 for 20 lifetime with career earnings of $69,529. His previous stakes wins include the Wyoming Bred Futurity, the KC Carden Wyoming Bred Derby, and the Sweetwater Wyoming Bred Derby.
Tdm Big Shooter and Elliot Bachicha, Jr led but were passed by the winner to finish in second place, beaten by a half-length. They finished a nose in front of third place finisher Ccb First Flying Fool.
Tdm Bog Shooter is a 6-year-old gelding owned by Tyson Morgan and trained by Steve Morgan. He was bred in Wyoming by Mike Lipp, by Coronas Velvet and out of the Mr Eye Opener mare Tru Socialite.
Tdm Big Shooter is also a multiple stakes winner, with 12 lifetime wins in 31 starts and career earnings of $60,494.
Ccb First Flyin Fool and Tyson Lusk finished third for trainer Travis Offret and owners Tom Peffer and John Martin, Jr. The 6-year-old gelding was bred by Chelsa Bringhurst, by Fit to Fly and out of Janeys First, by Cashin Man. He is multiple stakes placed and has never been out of the money at five starts in Rock Springs.
Completing the field were Go Roller Coaster, Vvr Dazzling Corona, Nowshesfamous and Tanquery Dash.
