Remington Park Futurity Leads Stellar Program Saturday

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 19, 2017—The $932,500 Remington Park Futurity will headline a rich program of racing this Saturday night. The qualifiers for the event, restricted to eligible Oklahoma-breds, made their way into the final via time trials on April 7 and 8.

Saturday’s entire 12-race card will carry purses of $1,470,650, marking the second million-dollar plus night of purses this season at Remington Park. The Oklahoma Futurity program on March 25 was the first to top seven-digit purse plateau.

EOS A Political Win, a colt by leading sire Apollitical Jess was the top qualifier at 330 yards on April 7, covering the distance in 16.947 seconds, into headwinds just under 20mph.

Owned by Elite Oilfield Services of Perryton, Texas and trained by Alfredo Gomez, EOS A Political Win drew post position three for the Remington Park Futurity. Esgar Ramirez will have the mount on the 5-2 morning-line favorite, set by odds-maker Jerry Shottenkirk.

La Vencedora, a daughter of multiple stakes sire Ivory James, qualified best on the second night of trials, April 8, into a slightly stronger headwind above 20mph. The 2-year old filly crossed the finish in 17.011 seconds under regular jockey James Flores.

The Remington Park Futurity is the ninth race on Saturday night with a scheduled post time of 9:35pm. The first race of the evening takes place at 6pm. All times are Central.

  • Race 8 – Grade 2, $50,000 Bob Moore Memorial, 3-year-olds and up, 300 yards
