First race post time on opening day is 1:30 p.m. (EDT) and racing will be held each Wednesday except for the 'special event' Sundays each month in the summer and Thanksgiving Monday, October 14.

Fresh off yet another successful season in which wagering set new records, Ajax Downs attracts big crowds that can get up close to the horses and riders while enjoying trackside food in a picnic setting.

HUNTSVILLE, TX–MAY 3, 2024–Legendary two-time All American Futurity(G1) winning trainer, Johnie A. Goodman passed away Friday night May 2, 2024, at his residence in Huntsville, Texas following a house fire. The 84-year-old former trainer succumbed to smoke inhalation according to his son Johnie.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced on May 2 they have seized eight shipments of illegal, performance-enhancing drugs designed for horses at the Port of Cincinnati.

A release from the agency dated May 1 said the packages included injectable cobra, scorpion, and spider venoms, as well as anabolic steroids, ketamine, Ritalin, and caffeine.

The seizures started as far back as Jan. 1 of this year and were requested by the Food and Drug Administration, which oversees enforcement on adulterated, mislabeled or illegal drug substances.
