VINTON, LA—MAY 12, 2012—Kimberly and Herman Hogue’s 4-year-old mare Zoomin To Win won $29,350 Mother’s Day Stakes on Saturday night at Delta Downs.
Not only did Zoomin To Win record the victory, she also set a new stakes record in the process. Under jockey John Hamilton the brown runner stopped the clock in a time of 17.233 for 350 yards over a fast track. That time equaled a speed index of 103.
Starting from the outside post position in a field of eight, Zoomin To Win broke out of the gate in fourth position before quickly overhauling the leaders and going on to a ¾-length victory over Bang Bang Bang, who finished second. Little Eye Opener ran third, another half-length behind the top pair.
The tally by Zoomin To Win, who is trained by Heath Taylor, marked the fourth of her 10-race career. The winner’s paycheck of $15,000 boosted her lifetime bankroll up to $59,006. Zoomin To Win is a brown mare by Azoom, out of the First Place Dash mare First Place Winner. You and Me Partners bred her in Oklahoma.
Bang Bang Bang is a 4-year-old daughter of Lock To Load owned by Carl Smith and trained by Kenny Roberts, Sr. The brown miss out of Sweet Fly And Fly, by Strawfly Special, is 5-3-0 in 11 starts and has earned nearly $75,00. Bred in Louisiana by Tye Smith, she was ridden by Lucas Constantin.

Completing the field were Flamboyant Chick, Allusional Dash, Pantherinthefastlane, Flying To The Line and Lindsays First Jewel.
