Apolliperfection and Tres On First Headline Morning Works On Tuesday At Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—MARCH 15, 2017—Los Alamitos Race Course enjoyed another busy morning on workouts on Tuesday, March 14 highlighted by super clocking from Rancho El Cabresto’s Apolliperfection and Janet McKinnerney’s Tres On First, both of which posted bullet works of :12.30 at 220 yards.

Trained by Juan Aleman, Apolliperfection worked from the inside post to the tune of :12.30 time while facing the colt Twenty One Gunz, which also posted a good time of :12.50.

Apolliperfection is an Oklahoma-bred filly by 2010 World Champion Apollitical Jess and out of Julias Perfection. The young broodmare never finished off the board in four career starts and was third in her trials to the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity and Ed Burke Million Futurity in 2013.

Also trained by Aleman for Link Newcomb, Twenty One Gunz is by First Moonflash out of Jess Charming, the mother of stakes winner B Mighty Speedy and stakes runner-up Jess Tempting.

Corona Perfection is the grand-dam of both Apolliperfection and Twenty One Gunz and she’s also the dam of Corona Thru Fire, which sizzled on Tuesday when working :12.40 from the outside post for trainer Paul Jones. Corona Perfection is also the mother of multiple Grade 1 winner Louisiana Senator, a winner of nearly $600,000 after taking the Remington Park Championship, Leo Handicap, Eastex Handicap and Refrigerator Handicap.

Corona Thru Fire’s workout mate is Paul Blanchard’s Coronated, a colt by Corona Cartel out of the outstanding broodmare Dashin Follies, which worked the 220 yards in :12.50 from the inside post for Paul Jones.

Coronated is a full brother to the great Pyc Paint Your Wagon, which earned over $900,000 in a stellar racing career while winning the Texas Classic Futurity, Texas Classic Derby, Heritage Place Derby and Lazy E Ranch Futurity. Coronated is also a full brother to Ivory James, an earner of over $220,000 and the runner-up in the 2006 Heritage Place Futurity and finalist in the 2007 All American Derby.

A daughter of World Champion Dashing Folly, the broodmare Dashin Follies is also the mother Coronita Cartel and Paint Your Lips. Dashin Follies became the highest American Quarter Horse broodmare when she sold for $875,000 at the January, 2010, Heritage Place Mixed Winter Sale.

Trained by Jose Flores for Janet McKinnerney, Tres On First worked in super :12.30 from the outside post on Tuesday morning. Sired by Tres Seis, this colt is out of the stakes placed mare Chick On First.

Trained by Jaime Gomez for Dutch Masters III, California Coast worked in :12.40 from the outside post. The Walk Thru Fire filly is out of West Coast Cash, a solid producer whose progeny includes 2010 Kindergarten Futurity winner West Coast Hawk, 2007 Northwest Futurity winner One Fast Okie and Golden State Million Futurity and PCQHRA Breeders Futurity fourth place finisher Cash For Cottontail.

Andrea and Eddie Jensen’s Apollitical Bull worked in :12.40 on Tuesday as well. Trained by Monty Arrossa, Apollitical Bull is by Apollitical Jess and out of the two-time stakes winner Chalala. Multiple futurity finalist Chalalita and allowance winner Apollitical Dream are both out of Chalala.

Four other notable juvenile that worked on Tuesday were Luxor of Appeals MV, New Hot Look, Perfect Az Can Be and Top The Sale. Owned by Ed Allred and trained by Scott Willoughby, New Hot Look and Top The Sale worked in tandem on Tuesday in equal :12.50 clockings. This was New Hot Look’s second gate work. He’s a gelding by Walk Thru Fire and out of Make Over and a full brother to multiple stakes winner New Look and Grade 1 futurity finalist Renewed.

Trained by Paul Jones for owner and breeder Paulo Otavio Freire Macedo, Luxor Of Appeals MV is a colt by Tres Seis and out of the noted mare Queen Of Appeals. A winner of the 1999 Charger Bar Handicap, Queen Of Appeals is the mother of AQHA champion and Grade 1 Champion of Champions and Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity winner Good Reason SA. She’s also the mother of talented runners Jabuti Eagle SA and Special Queen SA. This is the family of major stakes winner Totally Illegal. Luxor Of Appeals MV covered the 220 yards in :12.50.

Omar Placentia’s Perfect As Can Be also worked in :12.50 for trainer Kristen Watanabe. The Arizona-bred filly is by Texas Icon and out of Jess Perfect Girl is a full sister to Arizona Icon, an allowance winner at Los Alamitos and winner of the 2016 AQRA Turf Paradise Futurity and Marie Bryan ASOA Futurity.
