OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 8, 2017—The second night of 12 trials to determine the final five qualifiers for the $1,032,400 Remington Park Futurity are complete. La Vencedora led the way Saturday night, posting a 330-yard effort of :17.011 seconds over a fast track.
La Vencedora and the others who qualified on Saturday faced a headwind ranging from 19-23 mph throughout the evening.
Owned by Terry McLean of Claremore, Okla. and trained by her husband Gerry McLean, La Vencedora was ridden by James Flores. Perfect through her two starts this year, La Vencedora won her trial by 2-1/2 lengths under mild encouragement from Flores, pulling clear with every stride.

Eagle Jazz, a One Dashing Eagle colt out of multiple graded winner Baja Jazz, by Tres Seis, got his second win in as many starts with a half-length victory in the fourth trial Saturday.
The R.L. "Rick" Robinson trainee posted the second fastest clocking of :17.044 seconds. Juan Medina is the owner/breeder of the sorrel colt. Agustin Silva had the riding assignment.
Second crop sire High Rate Of Return's Returning Motion broke her maiden in the 8th trial to get the third fastest time of :17.057 seconds. Champion jockey Ricky Ramirez rode the sorrel filly to a 1 ¼ length win for owner Bobby Simmons.
Double Eagle was a late supplemental entry into the trials. Owner JK Running Horses of Neosha Falls, Kan. paid $25,000 to participate and they will now reap a hefty share of the final purse since their filly qualified. Ridden by jockey Cristian Esqueda, Double Eagle was a one-length winner in the fourth fastest time of :17.103 seconds.
Also by world champion One Dashing Eagle, the sorrel filly is trained by Kenny Laymon. Carl and Luanne Humphries bred her from the Corona Cartel mare A Southern Gal.
Champion jockey Ricky Ramirez got his second qualifier on Saturday when My Southern Dynasty posted a :17.112 clocking after a 1 ¾ length win in the 9th trial.
Charles Duke Shults saddled the FDD Dynasty colt for owner Dunn Ranch Ltd. Bill Price bred the brown colt from the Southern Cartel mare Southern Fling.
