Rarin Continues Winning Streak, Gains 2nd Of The Season At Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 13, 2017—Steady and sometimes heavy rain on Thursday night could not damper Rarin from his second straight win of the Remington Park season.

The 5-year-old gelding started best and went on to win his third straight race in the featured $20,875 starter allowance for those who have started for a claiming price of $10,000 or less, this year or last.

Owned by Jesus Estrada of Albuquerque, N.M. and trained by Fernando Carrete, Rarin was ridden by Ricky Ramirez. The victory was the second of the Remington Park season for Rarin who led from the gate break and roared to score in the 330-yard race by an easy 1-1/4 lengths over Wavin To My Doll. Ihaveallthecontrol was along for third.

Rarin handled the measure in 16.563 seconds over a sloppy track. The surface was altered to off-going thanks to rain that started in late afternoon and continued throughout the entire 11-race Thursday night card.

Away as the betting favorite at 2-1 odds, Rarin paid $6.40 to win, $4.20 to place and $2.80 to show. Wavin To My Doll paid $3.80 to place and $2.60 to show. Ihaveallthecontrol paid $7.20 to show.

An Oklahoma-bred, Rarin is by Inseperable from the Rare Form mare Rare Kayoh. He won his fourth career race from 12 starts with all four of his lifetime wins have taken place at Remington Park. The winner’s share of $12,605 runs his overall earnings to $54,170.

Remington Park’s 2017 American Quarter Horse Season continues Friday and Saturday with the first race both nights at 6pm-Central. There will be no live racing on Easter Sunday, April 16.

Friday night features the $20,000 Paul Harber Memorial Stakes for Paints and Appaloosas as well as four trials for the American Paint Classic Futurity.
