SHAKOPEE, MN—JUNE 10, 2017—La Mos Pyc, ridden by Stormy Smith, won the $32,759 Gopher State Derby on Saturday at Canterbury Park, covering 400 yards in 20.57 seconds into a 40 mph headwind.

The 3-year-old daughter of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon is trained by Lori Harris and is owned by Thomas Scheckel.

This was the first stakes win for Harris. "We keep a small barn and we do everything ourselves," she said.

"She left good. She ran a winning race and got there," Smith said.
