I Deliver Delivers Win In Firecracker Futurity

GRANTS PASS, OR—JULY 4, 2017—Fastest qualifier I Deliver returned to Grants Pass today for a wire-to-wire win over L Bar D Classic Trip in the $28,400 Firecracker Futurity. Warhock finished three-quarters back in the show position.

Ridden by jockey Eduard Sosa, I Deliver kept his nose in front at the wire to complete the 350 yards in :17.666 seconds, a 103-speed index. It was the second win in four starts for the son of leading third crop sire One Sweet Jess. The $11,360 winners' purse boosts his bankroll to $13,642.

Hector Magallanes saddled the brown gelding for owner Chris Philbrook. Prior to the June 18th Firecracker trials, I Deliver finished fourth in his Pot O'Gold Futurity trial and second in the Pot O'Gold Futurity consolation at Sun Downs last May.

Michael and Shannon McKay bred I Deliver in Oregon from the Shazoom mare Go Girl Gone.

Runner-up L Bar D Classic Trip, winner the aforementioned Pot O'Gold Consolation last May, earned $5,680 for second. Also trained by Magallanes, the son of Oklahoma-based Thoroughbred sire Mr. Nightlinger was ridden by Osvaldo Gonzalez.

Herman Torres and Chris Carpenter own the Oregon-bred gelding out Be First Rose by Ought To Be First. Darrell and Linda Sanders bred L Bar D Classic Trip.

Owned-and-trained by Freddy Ibarra, Warhock picked up $4,260 for his third-place effort. Still a maiden from four starts, the son of champion of champions sire Zoomin For Bux is out of the multiple stakes producing Corona Cartel mare Copa Show Girl. Jose Figueroa had the riding assignment aboard the Hayden Brothers Ranch Oregon-bred.

Corona B Gone, Sweet Dream Demon, This Wagons On Fire and L Bar Razle Dazle completed the field. Pendleton Promenade was scratched.
