A Toast To Brindis Surprises In Wyoming Bred Futurity

EVANSTON, WY—JULY 8, 2017—A Toast To Brindis, at 11-1 odds, went wire-to-wire under jockey Nakia Ramirez, to defeat stablemate Tanguery Dash by a nose in the $37,100 Wyoming Bred Futurity Saturday afternoon at Wyoming Downs. Fastest qualifier Foose Dust finished a neck back in the blanket finish to take third.

Saddled by trainer Jesse Villegas, A Toast To Brindis completed the 300 yards in :15.527 seconds to earn a 92-speed index. It was the second win in four starts for the Brindis Por Cayenne gelding and the $12,985 winners' purse boosted his career mark to nearly $15,000.

Gerald Kaul is the owner/breeder of the sorrel gelding out of A Secret Life by Beduino Secret.

Another homebred for Kaul and trained by Villegas, Tanguery Dash picked up $ 5,946 for second. Also a son of multiple stakes sire Brindis Por Cayenne, the sorrel gelding entered the finals off the second fastest qualifying time in the June 24th trials. Rick Oliver had the riding call aboard this year's Bucking Horse Sale Futurity winner. Out of the Dashin Moon Shadow mare Dashing Dashetta, he has earned $19,221.

Trainer Riley Moosman saddled Foose Dust to his third place effort for owner/breeder Jim Nebeker. Jesus Valenzuela rode the Foose gelding out of the Maknmoves mare Out Of The Dust. He earned $3,710 for the effort.t

A Toast To Brindis returned $22.60 to win, $9 to place and $4.20 to show. Tanguery Dash paid $7.40 to place and $4.60 to show and Foose Dust returned $3.20 to show.

Dust Stone was disqualified from fourth and placed last. Completing the official order of finish were Innosent Cat, Eyesa Special Cirrus, Super Sonic Moves, Switching To 307, Favorite Fire Boy and Dust Stone. Dp Regal Dynasty was scratched.
