Eye Am Sizzlin Gets Up To Win De Saix Stakes

NEW ORLEANS, LA—SEPTEMBER 2, 2017—Eye Am Sizzlin got up in the final jump to defeat Shesa Diamond Diva by a head in the $35,000 De Saix Stakes Saturday afternoon at Fairgrounds Racecourse.

Ridden by jockey Rolando Cabrera, Eye Am Sizzlin completed the 300 yards course in :15.074 seconds, a 108-speed index into a 10 mph crosswind.

Trainer Levi Mays saddled the son of multiple stakes sire Sizzlin Cartel to his fourth career win in seven starts. The $21,000 winner's purse boosted Eye Am Sizzlin's earnings total to $93,685.

Owned by M & D Racing Stables, the gray colt out of Eye Opening Jess by Mr Jess Perry, was also fourth in the RG1 Lee Berwick Memorial Futurity in July. Jumonville Farms is the breeder.

Saul Ramirez, Jr. conditions runner-up Shesa Diamond Diva for owner Cruz Nava. Paul Fontenot, Jr. bred the Struttin To Beduino filly from the Heza Fast Dash mare Sheza Fortune.

Second in the Louisiana Juvenile Stakes and fourth in the Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) this season, Shesa Diamond Diva earned $7,000 to boost her career mark to $46,821.

Ancient Of Days, a Texas-bred daughter of first crop sire FDD Going Grand, finished half-a-length off the leaders to earn $2,750 for third. Kenneth Roberts Sr. saddled the sorrel filly for owner/breeder Mercy Hinklin. Donald Watson had the riding assignment.

Miss Tee Lajolla, Angiesprizepatriot, Lennys Cashandchrome, Mr Coco Pilota, Sweet Caliente and Kerrys Corona completed the field.
