SELMA, TX—SEPTEMBER 2, 2017—Alluringeyeopener scored her first career win Saturday night when she defeated fastest qualifier Audi Murphi by a neck in the $173,700 Gillespie County Fair Futurity. Lions Express finished a head back in the blanket finish to take third.
Originally scheduled for last Sunday, the Gillespie County Fair Futurity was contested at Retama Park tonight because of weather conditions in Fredricksburg last weekend from Tropical Storm Harvey.
Trainer Eusevio Huitron saddled the colt by Specially Alluring for owner Salvador Valez. Rance Herring bred Alluringeyeopener in Texas from the Eye Yin You mare Sixmoon Bully. The $60,795 winners' purse boosted Alluringeyeopener earnings total to $62,269.
Jockey Jesse Lee Levario picked up the riding assignment aboard fastest qualifier Audi Murphi for trainer Josue Ponce. Ponce trains the son of Valiant Hero for owners Bobby Cox and Kristen Paredes. Out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess A Lil Bit More, he earned $26,055 to bring his bankroll to more than $32,000. Cox is also the breeder.
Eusevio Huitron also trains third-place finisher Lions Express. Jose G. Espinoza owns the Freighttrain B colt out of This Cat Purrs by First Wrangler. Bred in Indiana by Bennett Racing Stables LLC and ridden by Omar Reyes, Lions Express earned $17,370 for the effort.
Potus B, Hesa Royal, Apollitical Scared, Gianni Bailes, Nsm Cherokee Warrior and Tacky Lil Groundhog completed the field. Rstone Wagon was scratched.
