PHOENIX, AZ—DECEMBER 16, 2017—Just Go On, a 3-year-old son of Stel Corona, got his first win Saturday when he defeated The Travelers Gift by a neck in the $8,300 Maiden Stakes (not black type) at Turf Paradise. Bodacious Love Shack finished three-quarters back to get third.

Ridden by jockey Martin Bourdieu, Just Go On completed the 300 yards in :15.741 into an 11-mph crosswind.

Trainer Roddina Barret saddled the 3-year-old in his first start July 15th at Retama Park where he finished fourth in a trial to the Retama Park Derby. Other than a maiden race at 2, this is the first non-trial race Just Go On has competed in.

The sorrel gelding races for owner Ruben Martinez-Ortiz. Bred in California by Edward C. Allred, from the Hawkinson mare Forgive Him, Just Go On has compiled (8) 1-2-0 record and today's $ winner's' purse worth $4,889 boosted his bank roll to $6,111.

The Travelers Gift, a son of Mr Jess Perry, from the Runaway Winner mare Runaway Dee Dee, picked up $1,577 for second. Owned-and-trained by Eloy Mendoza, The Travelers Gift was bred in Texas by Bobby D. Cox. Mark Jasso was riding.

Making his first official start, Bodacious Love Shack earned $789 for finishing third. Ricardo Saldana saddled the Florida-bred son of Bodacious Dash for owner Everardo Torres Nevarez. David Rees-Frisby was aboard the Sergio Hernandez-bred colt out of Little Love Shack by Game Patriot.

Completing the field were Fastest Texas Icon, Mongoose Cowboy, Sheza Royal Holiday, Katies Miracle, Big Time Thriller, Larrys Gypsy and Forrest Smoke. Dash Till Done was scratched.
