LOS ALAMITOS, CA—DECEMBER 17, 2017—A Pollitical Lady jumped out to an early lead then held off Twenty One Gunz by a nose in the $30,000 Los Alamitos Juvenile Invitational Sunday evening at Los Alamitos Race Course.

Under jockey Cody Jensen, A Pollitical Lady blew away from gate to get in front of the field but got erratic after the 8th pole while completing the 400 yards in :20.289 seconds into a headwind.

Third in the Grade 1 Golden State Million Futurity two races back, A Pollitical Lady races for owner/breeders' Parsons Ranch. Christopher O'Dell conditions the filly by leading sire Apollitical Jess from the First Down Dash mare Another Wise Lady.

Also, a finalist in the Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity A Pollitical Lady has compiled a (9) 2-4-2 record and the Invitational winners' purse of $16,500 pushed her 2017 earnings total to $134,907.

Juan Aleman saddled runner-up Twenty One Gunz to his second-place finish for owner Link Newcomb. Carlos Huerta rode the son of champion First Moonflash out of Jess Charming by Mr Jess Perry. Winless in eight starts this season the sorrel gelding picked up $6,750 for the effort. The Quarter Company LLC bred Twenty One Gunz in California.

Stakes-placed La Rusa, a daughter of leading sire Walk Thru Fire, finished three-quarters back to get third for owner Howard Nichols and trainer Jose Flores. Jairo Rangel rode the filly out of Corona Fire by Corona Cartel.

Bred in California by Balgo Racing Team Inc., La Rusa earned $3,750. Second in the California Breeders' Freshman Fillies Stakes in July and a finalist in the PCQHRA Breeders' Futurity(G2) in October, La Rusa has banked $40,500 this season.

King Of Appeals, Go Cash Stevie B, My Favorite Cartel, Sweet 16 and Just Walk By completed the field.
