GILLETTE, WY—JUNE 10, 2018—Three trials determined the field for the $15,000-added Wyoming All Breeds Racing Association Derby at Energy Downs on Sunday, but it was the third trial that produced the top three fastest qualifiers. The final will be held on June 24.

The winner of the third and final trial and fastest qualifier was A Toast to Brindis, with a time of :17.507 for 350 yards and a speed index of 105. A Toast To Brindis ($6.40), with Luis Peralta up, defeated second fastest qualifier Innosent Cat by a neck after trailing the top two leaders and making a strong move to pull ahead at the wire.

A Toast to Brindis is trained by Jesse Villegas for owner and breeder Gerald Kaul. The 3-year-old gelding is by Brindis Por Cayenne and is out of the Beduino Secret mare A Secret Life.

This was the fifth win for A Toast to Brindis in nine lifetime starts, and he has only finished out of the money once. As a 2-year-old, he won the $37,100 Wyoming Futurity at Wyoming Downs.

Innosent Cat and Oscar Cervantes broke well and stayed close throughout the race, and their final time of :17.557 placed the pair second among all qualifiers. The Red Storm Cat filly is trained by Diana Garfias and is owned by Aron Saenz.

Innosent Cat was bred in Wyoming by Shari Burger, out of the Royal Quick Dash mare Not That Innocent.

Tiny Capitana and Daniel Carrillo led early in the race before they were caught by the top two finishers, but their final time of :17.594 was the third fastest overall out of three trials.

The daughter of Captain Courage recently broke her maiden in her first stakes win, the $21,285 Dixie Downs Derby, in April.

Tiny Capitana is trained by Josh Taylor for owner Pedro Mena. Keith Hildabrand bred her in Wyoming, out of Tiny Flyin Levis, by Strawflyin Buds.
