Faster Then U Wire-to-Wire Winner of $256,576 La Fiesta Quarter Horse Futurity

ALBUQUERQUE, NM—SEPTEMBER 22, 2018—Faster Then U, a lightly raced son of multiple stakes sire Ivory James, ran her win streak to three straight on Sunday when he captured the $256,576 La Fiesta Quarter Horse Futurity with a wire-to-wire performance.

Ridden by jockey Alonso Rivera, Faster Then U completed the 400 yard course in :19.512 seconds, equaling a 92 speed index, while defeating Taking The Stage by one-length. Miss Eysa Senator finished a neck back in third.

Conditioned by trainer James B. Padgett, II the brown gelding has won three of five career starts and banked $42,128. The $70,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate races for owners Faster Then U Partners.

Brian Gunder bred Faster Then U in Oklahoma from the Leaving Memories mare Send Me The Candy.

Runner-up Taking The Stage showed late interest under jockey Luis Yescas, Jr. Cynthia Gonzalez trains the Louisiana Senator filly for owner Pedro Zubiate Castro. Bauer Farm LLC bred the bay filly in New Mexico from the Dean Miracle mare Thirty Fourth Street. She earned $51,315 to increase her earnings mark to $76,858.

Miss Eysa Senator, also a daughter Louisiana Senator, picked up $30,789 for third. Trainer Michael Joiner saddled the bay filly for owner/breeder Wootan Racing. Jorge Bourdieu was aboard the filly from the Shazoom mare Eyes A Shazoom.

Magnum Moonflash, First Cerveza Moon, Significant Royal, Pricey Girl, Miss Blue October and High Exchange Rate completed the field. Dor was scratched.
