ROCKY VIEW, AB—OCTOBER 6, 201—The Saturday card at Century Downs opened with two trials for the 400-yard Canada Quarter Horse Cup Futurity.

Singles Cruise, with Alejandro Hernandez, posted the fastest qualifying time of 20.286. The duo broke mid-pack and gained ground throughout the 400-yard trial to win by a neck over second-place finisher and fourth overall fastest qualifier Timbersknightryder.

The $75,000-estimated final will be held on October 21.

This was the second consecutive win for Singles Cruise ($11.70). The Favorite Cartel filly has won four of her six career starts, including the $40,000 Grande Prairie Juvenile Challenge in August and the $20,000 Jerry Stojan Memorial in July.

The third qualifier was the second-place finisher behind Papas Coleen, Goldin Warrior. Goldin Warrior and J. B. Botello crossed the wire a head behind the winner and half-length ahead of Always Right in third place with a final time of 20.336.

Goldin Warrior is trained by Laurie Ferguson and is a maiden in six career starts, though he finished second twice and qualified for the $58,799 Alberta Bred Futurity (RG3).
