Hollywoodcrown Scores Wire-To-Wire Win In Friday Quarter Horse Feature At The Downs

ALBUQUERQUE, NM—AUGUST 9, 2019—A sharp break from post 5 helped Hollywoodcrown score a wire-to-wire victory in Friday’s $25,300 Quarter Horse feature race for New Mexico-breds at Albuquerque Downs.

Owned and trained by Fred Danley, Hollywoodcrown covered 350 yards in :17.383, and his winning margin was one length from Frost Dalena. Porfirio Cano rode the homebred 4-year-old daughter of Heza Motor Scooter from the Gone Hollywood (TB) mare Hollywood Gone(TB).

Hollywoodcrown was coming off of a fourth-place finish in the July 27, 400-yard Zia Handicap (RG2) at Ruidoso Downs. Raced exclusively in New Mexico, the mare has won six of 25 starts, and the $15,180 winner’s share of the purse from Friday’s victory pushed her earnings to $191,523.

Hollywoodcrown’s local resume includes a second-place finish in last year’s New Mexico State Fair Breeders’ Derby (R).

Sweet Splenda, Sir Diamond Dash, Hs Paul Walker, De Blazin Chick, A Super Sonic Boom, Saul, Frangelica, and Tyger Power completed the order of finish.
